A Henrico-based company that provides home deliveries of medical products is trimming its headcount.

Home Care Delivered is planning to lay off 73 employees, according to a notice recently filed with the state.

Those affected by the layoffs are remote employees of the company with headquarters on the fourth floor of the Offices at Westmark Center building at 11013 W. Broad St.

Home Care Delivered sells diabetes testing supplies, adult diapers, wound dressings and other similar medical and health items, which are delivered to customers’ doors.

The company said the layoffs are intended to streamline its back-office operations.

“After a strategic review, Home Care Delivered restructured several back-office functions to align with industry best practices. These positions are not customer-facing. These changes enhance our ability to deliver the quality care, compassionate service, and reliable support to patients and providers,” a company spokeswoman said in an email.

More than 50 employees affected by the layoffs are based in Virginia, with the rest located out of state, according to the state filing.

The company will continue to operate its Glen Allen corporate headquarters and eight additional offices throughout the country.

The layoffs are slated to take effect Dec. 10. Many of the affected employees handle evaluations of customer documentation as well as insurance claims and verification.

The company didn’t comment on how many employees it would have after the layoffs. Home Care Delivered says on its LinkedIn profile that it has more than 200 employees.

The company was founded in 1996 by Gordy Fox. In 2023, Fox stepped down as CEO and was succeeded by Gayle Devin. Fox is chairman of the company board of directors, according to its website.
