Chad Lowe and Kim Painter’s late daughter Fiona was honored with a celebration of life over the weekend.
Exclusive sources tell PEOPLE that the family came together for a service memorializing the late 13-year-old over the weekend. The celebration of life was kept private, with family and close friends in attendance.
Chad and Kim shared in a statement with PEOPLE on Sept. 29 that their 13-year-old daughter Fiona had died. The family expressed their grief and remembered Fiona as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” the family continued in their statement, adding, “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”
“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time,” they added.
Fiona was the second of Chad and Kim’s three daughters. The couple welcomed her on Nov. 16, 2012.
Earlier in October, Fiona’s cause of death was confirmed in a statement from the medical examiner shared with PEOPLE. Fiona was pronounced dead at 1:14 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at a local hospital.
The manner of death was ruled a suicide on Thursday, Oct. 1, according to the medical examiner’s office.
A source previously told PEOPLE that Rob Lowe, Chad’s older brother and fellow actor, has been among the family members supporting Chad and Kim as they grieve Fiona’s death. They shared that the Lowe family has been coming together to support the couple during this difficult time.
“Rob and Chad are very close. Their family and friends have rallied around Chad and Kim,” the source said. “Everyone’s heartbroken.”
“They already went through so much with losing their home last year,” the source added. “Right now, the focus is on being there for them in any way they can.”

Earlier this month, Chad returned to social media after his daughter’s death, sharing an Instagram Stories clip on Oct. 8 of author Gerry Hussey discussing grief and spirituality on Olivia Hunt’s On Healing podcast.
Chad and his family attended Rob’s son Matthew Lowe’s wedding to Emily Markus on Saturday, Oct. 10. A source told PEOPLE at the time that it was important for Chad’s family to have loved ones around them.

“Chad, Kim and the daughters wanted to be around family this weekend,” a source exclusively told PEOPLE. “Though this is an extremely difficult time, the family has rallied around them.”
“Chad and Kim wanted to make sure their daughters were around family and friends and thought it was important for their family to have some moments of joy and be surrounded by those who love them, and loved Fiona, most,” the source added.
