We look at the players and teams who have registered the top speeds and made the highest number of sprints this season

Harvey Barnes is the fastest Premier League player of the 2026/27 season so far, reaching a top speed of 36.21km/h for Newcastle United against Aston Villa. Bradley Barcola ranks second at 35.93km/h, with Manchester City‘s Antoine Semenyo third at 35.74km/h.

Barnes became the first Premier League player to break the 36km/h barrier in 2026/27, clocking this season’s fastest top speed in a 1-0 loss at home to Aston Villa.

Barcola wasted no time in showing Liverpool supporters how much pace he has, registering 35.93km/h on his debut at Ipswich Town in early September.

Man City winger Semenyo reached the third-fastest speed this season in the win at Liverpool, with team-mates Erling Haaland (35.33km/h) and Abdukodir Khusanov (35.32km/h) ranking ninth and 10th in the table for their maximum speeds in Matchweek 7 at home to Ipswich.

The deceptively quick Everton striker, Thierno Barry is the division’s fourth-fastest player, registering a fastest speed of 35.5km/h.

Who is the fastest player at every Premier League club?

Of the remaining 14 Premier League sides who do not have anyone featuring in the top 10, a high number of defensive players top their club rankings for max speed.

Cristhian Mosquera is Arsenal’s fastest player, with full-backs Leif Davis (Ipswich) and Reinildo Mandava (Sunderland) plus central defenders Joe Rodon (Leeds United) and Kristoffer Ajer (Brentford), all quickest.

The only new entry from Matchweek 8 is also a defender, with Crystal Palace wing-back Anan Khalaili being clocked at a season-high 34.32km/h.

Which Premier League teams make the most sprints?

Liverpool lead the way, averaging 117.49 sprints per 90 minutes, with Brentford narrowly behind on 113.06.

Reds boss Andoni Iraola and Brentford’s Andrews may have differing styles of play but each demands great intensity from their players, and that is reflected in the early season sprints table.

Enzo Maresca’s Man City rank 20th in this department, making 32 fewer sprints per match than Liverpool.
