One of Asia’s most successful and consistently awarded creative leaders, Paul Chan has announced his early retirement after 25 years in advertising, including the past 14 years as chief creative officer of Cheil Hong Kong.
In two social media posts Chan released the news.
“After 25 years in advertising, I’m officially taking early retirement,” he explained.
“On a personal note, I’m closing this chapter with immense pride. Stepping away from the daily grind after my 14-year tenure at the creative helm of Cheil, I leave the office as the current ‘#1 Agency in Hong Kong’ and ‘Top 10 in Asia’ in Campaign Brief Asia’s Creative Rankings – a dominant position held for 8 years running.
“I’ve also had the privilege of being ranked (and remain) the #1 ‘Most Awarded Creative in Hong Kong’ for an unprecedented 9 years straight – including 2 consecutive years in 2020 and 2021 where I topped the overall rankings as the #1 ‘Most Awarded Creative in Asia’.”
“This next chapter belongs completely to personal freedom and a long-overdue pause with my beautiful wife and two very loud kids – none of whom give a flying hoot about my industry rankings anyway. The corporate race is run. Time to enjoy the view.”
