Energy Minister Eli Cohen was interrogated under caution at Lahav 433 as part of the diplomatic passports affair, in which passports were issued to several individuals who did not meet the criteria for receiving them, including Yair Netanyahu, the Prime Minister’s son. In a post on X, Cohen wrote that “this investigation should never have been opened – but as a law-abiding citizen, once an investigation has been opened, I will answer all questions fully.” He claimed that during his tenure as Foreign Minister, “only four passports were issued by the ministry’s director general in accordance with his authority. For Yair Netanyahu, a secured individual, the passport was renewed for security reasons several times since 2009.”
