Amy Jones’s Image

Amy Jones (UK) witnesses the rescue of a tiger as it struggles to walk, resting its fragile body against the concrete of its enclosure.

Amy worked with Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand to document the rescue of three leopards and 12 tigers from a breeding facility in northern Thailand.

This tiger was too frail for anaesthesia. The team spent hours gently coaxing it into a transport cage before its journey to a forested sanctuary.

Nearly 9,000 tigers are held in farms across East and Southeast Asia, including around 1,600 in Thailand.

These facilities often breed tigers for cubs for petting, and to supply the illegal trade in their body parts.

In stark contrast, it’s estimated there are just 3,140 mature tigers in the wild across the world.
