As Rishab Shetty’s latest offering, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, completed two weeks in theatres, it has now become the highest-grossing film in Karnataka. The film, despite witnessing a gradual decline in numbers during the second weekend, is now inching towards Rs 200 crore (gross) in the state.
According to tracking website, Sacnilk, the prequel has been holding steady at the box office after seeing a dip in collections during the weekdays. On its 14th day in theatres, the film earned Rs 10.55 crore nett (gross minus taxes) in India. While this is a 25 per cent drop in collections, it is still earning in double digits.
The 14-day total collection of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is now Rs 476.45 crore nett in India, and is expected to step into the Rs 500-crore club in the country soon.
The film approximately minted Rs 183.60 crore gross in 13 days in Karnataka. With the Day 14 numbers, the movie has become the highest grosser in the state.

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has surpassed the Rs 650-crore mark worldwide in 13 days. In India, the film minted Rs 557 crore, while it has crossed Rs 100 crore gross in the international belt. ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is the second Kannada film to step into the coveted Rs 100-crore club at the international box office after ‘KGF: Chapter 2’.
Written, directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is produced on a budget of Rs 125 crore by Hombale Films. The film also features Rukmini Vasanth, Jayram and Gulshan Devaiash in pivotal roles.
Kantara: Chapter 1′ ended with a segue to ‘Kantara: Chapter 2’, the next instalment.
