Thomas Schwarze’s Image
Thomas Schwarze (Germany) provides a simultaneous view of spring snowflake flowers and the treetops of a woodland in Elkenroth, Germany.
For the first few seconds of this long exposure, Thomas focused his camera on the woodland floor and its carpet of spring snowflake flowers.
Partway through, he tilted it upwards towards the canopy. This superimposed two perspectives in a single frame.
Spring snowflakes are native to Europe. They grow in damp woodlands, scrub and grasslands and flower between February and April.
These hardy plants provide an important early source of nectar for bees and other insects.
