Cody Rhodes is licking his wounds. Rhodes, the undisputed WWE champion, suffered a rare loss to longtime rival Seth Rollins at WWE Crown Jewel. The champ vs. champ match is behind him, and he returns to WWE SmackDown to resume his duties as top dog.
Rhodes and Rollins met in the annual men’s Crown Jewel championship match. A Rolex-assisted cheap shot secured the win for Rollins, but that’s in the past. Rhodes returns to SmackDown tonight with the undisputed title that everyone wants. Chief among the contenders are two of WWE’s most physically imposing superstars.
“The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu returned to SmackDown last week, expressing interest in challenging the undisputed WWE champion. His pitch was cut short by Drew McIntyre, who attacked him. Their hostilities escalate in a one-on-one match on Friday. Also scheduled, WWE women’s tag team champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair defend their titles against Solo Ruca and Zaria.
