Israel will not allow Turkish armed forces in Gaza as part of a U. S. plan to maintain a ceasefire after two years of conflict with Hamas, according to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.

The U. S. plan includes an international force to secure peace, but it is uncertain which countries will commit troops. Saar emphasized that any country sending armed forces must be fair to Israel, referencing the hostile actions of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan during the conflict.

Saar expressed that it is unreasonable for Turkey to send its forces into Gaza and stated that Israel communicated this to the U. S.

The Trump administration has talked to several countries, including Turkey and Arab states, about contributing to the force, although U. S. troops will not be involved. Prime Minister Netanyahu has also opposed any Turkish security role in Gaza, asserting that Israel will choose which foreign forces may enter.
