The Redmi Watch 6 is now official, following a teaser just a few days ago. It keeps the same 2.07-inch AMOLED display as before but adds a new sub-key button, a slimmer aluminium frame, and brighter 2,000-nit screen output.

Design gets a subtle refresh

Xiaomi hasn’t really changed that much, this time around, but there are a few things that are different. Mind you, the overall look of the Redmi Watch 6 stays close to the Watch 5.

The same 2.07-inch AMOLED display and slim 2mm bezels are on-board. Xiaomi has now added a tougher unibody aluminium frame and trimmed down the chassis to 9.9mm, making the watch slightly thinner than before.

Also, what has improved is brightness. The Watch 6 AMOLED boosts peak output to 2,000 nits, which should help visibility outdoors.

A new side button joins the rotating crown on the right-hand side. Xiaomi is calling it the “sub-key” and users will be able to assign custom shortcuts. It gives the watch a closer resemblance to the latest Apple Watch models, at least in terms of looks.

The Watch 6 comes in three colours at launch. Misty Blue pairs a silver body with a soft blue strap. Classic Black keeps things simple. Moonlight Silver brings a white band with a polished silver case. The straps are still swappable, and it’s likely that braided options seen on the previous model will return.

That display was already a standout feature of the Watch 5, and Xiaomi clearly saw no reason to shrink or tone it down. The large format won’t suit everyone, but for notifications and health data, it is easy to read.

Battery and software stay consistent

Battery life remains a strength. Xiaomi says the Watch 6 delivers up to 24 days of use, which matches the performance of the Watch 5. It houses a 550mAh battery, with magnetic charging once again the likely method. No mention of wireless charging or a eSIM option.

HyperOS 3 runs the show. This is Xiaomi’s own operating system, which was already used on the Watch 5. It handles daily fitness and health tracking, notifications, along with core smartwatch features.

Fitness features and price

The Watch 6 includes the usual set of features for an affordable smartwatch. There’s all-day health monitoring, a library of over 150 sports modes, 5 ATM water resistance, and support for advanced satellite positioning with GNSS. The Mi Fitness app continues to tie everything together.

The launch price in China is CNY 599, which works out to about $55. That’s lower than the current price of the Watch 5 on Amazon, which hovers around $110. Xiaomi hasn’t yet announced global availability.
