NEWS RELEASE

DISTRICT OF SAULT STE. MARIE PARAMEDIC SERVICES

*************************

With flu season upon us, the District of Sault Ste. Marie Paramedic Services is encouraging residents to protect themselves and others from illness this fall through

a series of public immunization clinics hosted by Community Paramedics.

To help make it easier for community members to get vaccinated, Community Paramedics are hosting public immunization clinics, offering vaccinations against influenza (flu), COVID-19, and RSV (for eligible seniors).

Unlike pharmacies, which are not authorized to administer the RSV vaccine, these clinics provide one of the few accessible options for residents to receive this important protection.

Clinic dates and locations:

Mon, Nov. 3 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm at Second Line Hub (672 Second Line W.)
Tues, Nov. 4 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm at Chapple Hub (90 Chapple Ave.)
Mon, Nov. 10 from 10 am – 4 pm at Seniors Active 55+ (619 Bay St.)

Eligibility:

Flu vaccine: 6 months and older.
COVID-19 vaccine: 12 years and older.
RSV vaccine: 60 years and older. Those who received the RSV vaccine are not eligible to receive it again this year. Please confirm your RSV vaccination status with your primary health-care provider before attending a clinic for the RSV vaccine. Paramedics will not vaccinate anyone against RSV who cannot confirm their RSV vaccination status.

No appointment needed, and ID/OHIP card is not required. Residents are encouraged to drop in, roll up their sleeves, and help protect themselves, their families, and their community this winter.

These clinics are offered in partnership with Sault Area Hospital (SAH).

The Community Paramedicine Program, supported by the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSAB), continues to bring care directly into the community, helping residents stay healthy, independent, and well at home.
