Caterpillar Inc. plans to more than double its capacity of gas turbines to tap into soaring demand for natural gas plants.
The heavy-machinery company said Tuesday it’s seeing a record backlog in orders for gas turbines, which convert fuel into energy to produce electricity. It plans to boost capacity of gas turbines to help meet demand for the energy needed to power data centers and artificial intelligence.
