Over time, different idols have emerged and Blackpink are a global icon of the 2020s pop culture era. Love them or hate them, people know Blackpink as the world’s biggest girl group. Due to their popularity, tickets for “Blackpink World Tour ” sold out in many countries including the US, Canada, France, South Korea and Thailand.
Tickets for “Blackpink World Tour In Bangkok”, which was held at Thailand’s largest stadium Rajamangala National Stadium, sold out for all three concert days. The concert attracted fans and non-fans who did not want to miss the performance of this K-pop phenomenon.
The four members of Blackpink — Jennie, Jisoo Lisa and Rose — did not disappoint the high expectations of the audience and proved to the world that they are indeed the most popular girl group. The main reason for their popularity includes excellent songs, unique and talented members, great chemistry between the members and natural interaction with fans.
“Blackpink World Tour ” kicked off on July 5 at Goyang Stadium in South Korea. Throughout their shows in the US, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, England and Taiwan, there was positive and negative feedback. Some videos commented that one member did not have energetic dance moves while another member’s singing ability did not meet the standard. However, for me, it does not matter what people on the internet say. In my eyes, their performance on Oct 24 had no dull moments and was full of energy from start to end.
Their fantastic performance matched the description of the concert title Deadline on YG’s official website. The website posted: “The title hints at a moment of ultimate focus and a point of no return, raising expectations for a show of massive scale and exceptional quality”.

Life was at the concert on Oct 24 before the official announcement of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. Concertgoers who attended the shows on the two following rounds were asked to wear black attire as a mark of mourning and respect. Music videos which played before the show on those days were also changed to black and white.
The concert kicked off with a vintage video of the quartet on a desert road trip. Their music journey is divided into five acts and an encore. The first and the fifth acts were a blast packed with hits such as Kill This Love, Pink Venom, How You Like That, Shut Down, Boombayah and DDU-DU-DDU-DU. These hits are well-written and have catchy rhythms and melodies, meaning concertgoers can easily get hooked if hearing them for the first time.
While Blackpink’s songs are considered catchy, their choreography is complicated and Thai fans at Rajamangala National Stadium showed that Blackpink holds a special place in their hearts. During a break called the “Dance Challenge”, cameras captured concertgoers as random songs were playing. Those captured on the big screen were dancing to the songs. Surprisingly, many Thai concertgoers demonstrated dance moves that were on point.
In addition to chart-topping songs, concertgoers also enjoyed their solo performances. During Act 2, Jisoo performed Hugs & Kisses and Earthquake from her album Amortage. Meanwhile Lisa performed Thunder, When I’m With You and Rockstar from the album Alter Ego.

Jisoo looked so pretty in a red plaid dress but compared to the other members, Jisoo had less fluid dance moves, though it was obvious that she had been practising very hard because every move was spot on. Lisa mesmerised audiences when she appeared in a sparkling gold crop top and high-cut briefs. Her energetic stage presence was so charismatic to watch that concertgoers’ eyes were glued.
In Act 4, Jennie performed Like Jennie, ExtraL and Starlight from her solo album Ruby. In Act 5, Rose performed 3AM, Toxic Till The End and APT. Both Jennie and Rose are all-rounders. They are masters of emotional slow tracks and energetic dance songs with intricate choreography. Concertgoers sang and swayed along with them, especially during Jennie’s Like Jennie and Rose’s APT, which hit No.3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Due to their diverse skillset, Blackpink were able to gain worldwide recognition with just four members. The group debuted in 2016 and they have been together since they were trainee singers. The chemistry between the members is natural.
At the concert, when Lisa asked Jisoo to speak Thai, she told the crowd, “Mai mee tung [I don’t have any money], which was the phrase Jisoo learned eight years ago in Thailand and memorised. Jennie revealed that she ordered many dishes such as pad Thai and pu pad pong karee without coriander while Rose said she ordered every dish with coriander. Rose jokingly shook Jennie’s hand and said nice to meet you.
At one point, Lisa asked concertgoers if they saw anyone wear outfits like theirs and they were able to find those who cosplayed the members. One of them was a Thai LGBTI influencer with a moustache wearing a blonde wig and dressed up like Rose. The cosplay reflects that Blackpink members are inspirations and role models to their fans who look up to them.
Lisa told fans at the second concert she did not know when the group and fans would meet again. They hoped their fans enjoyed their concert.
Many fans realise that it will not be easy to see the four members perform together again because every member has different future plans. But no matter if Blackpink comes back again or not, it will never change the fact that Blackpink will be remembered as the biggest girl group of the 2020s.
