Jeff Goldblum says he’s gone vegetarian after playing the Wizard of Oz in Jon M. Chu’s blockbuster sequel “Wicked: For Good.”
During a recent interview on “This Morning,” Goldblum discussed how lucky he feels to play such an impactful role as the Wizard at age 73. He also added that, because of the film’s themes surrounding animal cruelty, he has stopped eating meat.
“It’s uncommon that you get to be doing this over a period of time and get more fertile and juicy and interesting and relevant roles for yourself at this period of time,” Goldblum said. “Working with Jon Chu [is] amazing. It’s changed me. You know, after doing this movie, we talked about the animal cruelty, I stopped eating meat and poultry.”
He added, “We need the world to work for everybody on Earth and every creature, too.”
After putting his spin on the villainous ruler of Oz in 2024’s “Wicked,” Goldblum will reprise the role in “Wicked: For Good” on Nov. 21. His co-stars include Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible.
The first “Wicked” earned 10 nominations at last year’s Academy Awards and took home two statues for best achievement in costume design and best achievement in production design.
“Wicked: For Good” is expected to repeat the 10 nominations led by best actress and best supporting actress picks for Erivo and Grande, respectively. If they both repeat, they would become the seventh and eighth performers in Oscar history to be nominated twice for the same role.
