The new Fallout season 2 trailer has been released. The Prime Video series, which is based on the video game of the same name, debuted in 2024 to rave reviews, with a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Set after the apocalyptic Great War, the post-apocalyptic show tells the story of Lucy as she searches for her father. Fallout season 2 premieres in December.
The trailer for Fallout season 2 has been released by Prime Video, teasing the continuation of Lucy (Ella Purnell) and the Ghoul’s (Walton Goggins) journey across the Wasteland. One of the most anticipated moments for video game fans is the introduction of New Vegas, which the trailer shows as Lucy and the Ghoul seek to expose Vault-Tec.
When the Ghoul asks Lucy what the plan is once they find her father, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), she replies that she plans to “bring him to justice.” Lucy adds that it’s an important next step so that people know how to behave themselves and not to give up on hope.
Elsewhere in the Fallout trailer, the Ghoul admits that he’s kept himself alive in the Wasteland for 200 years for one reason: to find his family. The video then cuts to shots of the character with his family when he was Cooper Howard, hinting that more information about his past will be revealed.
The back half of the trailer teases the coming war, with Kumail Nanjiani’s character, who’s an official in the Brotherhood of Steel, complaining lightheartedly that he didn’t receive his invitation to discuss the civil war. Action-packed battle scenes follow (including a quick shot of Macaulay Culkin), with Lucy emotionally claiming she and the Ghoul are starting to get along.
The Fallout trailer ends with Lucy and the Ghoul arriving in New Vegas. Check out the trailer below:
Along with Purnell, Goggins, and MacLachlan, the Fallout cast also includes Aaron Moten, Moisés Arias, and Xelia Mendes-Jones. Nanjiani, Culkin, and Justin Theroux have all joined the cast for season 2.
Not much is known about Culkin’s role, except that his character is a genius. However, Theroux is playing Robert Edwin House, who is the RobCo Industries CEO. Presumably, Lucy and the Ghoul will cross paths with him in New Vegas since he’s in charge of that town.

Prime Video is taking a different approach to the release of Fallout season 2. All eight episodes of season 1 dropped on the same day in 2024. Season 2, though, is employing a weekly release schedule, with the premiere on December 17 and the finale on February 4.
After the huge success of season 1, the new weekly schedule will allow the hype for the show to keep building week after week, with social media being filled with discussions, theories, and predictions about Fallout season 2 for eight weeks. With season 3 already in the works, the fandom isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Fallout season 2 premieres Wednesday, December 17, on Prime Video.
