A seal that was being hunted by a pod of orcas has made a narrow escape, after it sought refuge on the boat of US photographer Charvet Drucker.

The amateur wildlife photographer told Associated Press that she was snapping photos of orcas off Camano Island in Washington, when she noticed the pod displaying the tell-tale signs of a hunt.

Shortly after, a seal hopped aboard her vessel in effort in an attempt to avoid being eaten.

Ms Drucker said that the orcas eventually gave up the chase after approximately 20 minutes, and the seal was able to make a safe exit from the boat closer to shore.
