It did not take long for The Fantastic Four: First Steps to be dethroned on Disney+, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has lost the top spot to another 2025 film. When it comes to the MCU’s 2025 movies, the arrival of the Fantastic Four was easily the most successful. The film ended its box office run with $521.9 million.
On Rotten Tomatoes, The Fantastic Four: First Steps holds a strong 86% Tomatometer score from critics, with an even better 90% score from audiences at the time of writing. After a successful, although not as big as imagined, theatrical run, The Fantastic Four: First Steps debuted on Disney+ on November 5, becoming the streamer’s most-watched movie worldwide.
However, that has since changed. The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been dethroned by Freakier Friday, which has now become Disney+’s most-watched movie, according to data from FlixPatrol. The MCU Fantastic Four movie now sits in second place, with the top three surprisingly being rounded out by Predator: Badlands | A Special Look, a 4-minute preview of the new Predator movie.

Freakier Friday sees the return of Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as the body-swapping daughter-mother duo Tess and Anna Coleman, who became beloved worldwide in 2003’s Freaky Friday. The movie came to Disney+ on November 12, meaning that by its third day on the streaming service, it has now surpassed The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
For its part, Marvel Studios’ first Fantastic Four movie continues to perform well despite losing the Disney+ top spot. With its debut as the streamer’s most-watched movie last week, The Fantastic Four: First Steps cemented a 2025 MCU trend. That is due to how both Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* before it also managed to accomplish that feat.
As such, Marvel Studios has had a great year on Disney+, even if the MCU’s other movies besides The Fantastic Four: First Steps did not perform as expected in theaters. Despite Freakier Friday surpassing the Fantastic Four movie on Disney+, that could always change in the near future, as there does not appear to be a huge gap in audience interest separating the two films.
According to FlixPatrol’s ranking system, Freakier Friday stands in 1st place with 697 points. The MCU Fantastic Four movie is currently only 36 points behind it, at 661. The points are calculated based on how many 1st spots and so on a movie has in several countries. As such, The Fantastic Four: First Steps could still rise to lead Disney+’s streaming charts once again.
