EXCLUSIVE: Apple TV is in early development on a series based on the Financial Times/Pushkin podcast
Hot Money: The New Narcos.

The series is set to be produced by Eden Productions.

Investigated and hosted by Financial Times’ reporter Miles Johnson, Hot Money: The New Narcos follows a cocaine super cartel that revolutionized the global drugs market, connecting Ireland’s Kinahan crime family to a mysterious murder in a small town, and a web of drugs, money laundering and state-sponsored assassinations stretching from Dublin to Dubai.

The podcast first dropped in December 2023 and ran for eight episodes.

The project will be executive produced by Richard Plelper and Heather Karpas for Eden Productions. Financial Times, Pushkin and Johnson will also serve as executive producers.

Apple TV had no comment.

The Financial Times and Johnson are repped by UTA and Curtis Brown. Pushkin is repped by WME.

As an investigative reporter for the Financial Times, Johnson has written stories about Russian mercenaries, Mayfair casino heists, money laundering by the Italian mafia, Vatican financial scandals, and covert sanctions busting.

He is the author of Chasing Shadows: A True Story of Drugs, War and the Secret World of International Crime (Little, Brown Book Group, 2023), a narrative non-fiction book about international organised crime, drug trafficking and terrorism.

He joined the Financial Times in 2008 and has reported from London and multiple other countries, including as a foreign correspondent in Rome, Madrid and New York.

Apple recently rebranded AppleTV+, dropping the plus sign with its new name being Apple TV. A new vibrant logo was also unveiled and will now be featured at the beginning of its shows and films.
