Google will put the $40 billion toward three new data centers in Texas, according to the Houston Chronicle, eventually bringing the company’s total data center count in the state to five once construction is complete.
The data centers will be located in Armstrong County and Haskell County, Bloomberg reported, citing CEO Sundar Pichai, who said at a news conference the “investment will create thousands of jobs, provide skills training to college students and electrical apprentices, and accelerate energy affordability initiatives throughout Texas.”
Gov. Greg Abbott said Texas will have the highest number of Google data centers in the world if the company’s three data centers materialize, according to Bloomberg.
