Israeli forces killed two Palestinian children on Thursday afternoon, in the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
Media sources reported that the Israeli army opened fire at the children with live ammunition in the southern area of Beit Ummar town, and declared the area a “closed military zone”.
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the slain children as Bilal Baha’ Ali Sabarna, 16, and Mohammad Mahmoud Abu Ayyash, 15, and stated that the occupation forces confiscated their bodies, taking them to an unknown location.
Israeli sources claimed that “soldiers from Battalion 636 ambushed and killed two Palestinians after they approached the forces carrying Molotov cocktails” adding that there were no injuries among the soldiers.
The army claimed the two children were “on their way to carry out a terror attack” near the illegal “Karmei Tzur” colony, built on Palestinian lands south of Beit Ummar.
In a statement, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said that “the occupation’s policy of targeting youths and children in the West Bank represents a heinous crime perpetrated by a government of murder and terrorism, which continues its aggressive practices against our Palestinian people, their land, and their holy sites.”
The resistance movement added that they “affirm that the aggression of the occupation and its settlers in the West Bank, including the targeting of young men and boys defending their land, the latest of whom was a martyr from the town of Beit Ummar in Hebron, will only increase our people’s adherence to their right and their determination to confront the arrogance and ongoing attacks.”
Since the beginning of the year, Israeli forces and colonizers have killed 238 Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank, including 48 children and 7 women.
Since the beginning of the year, occupation forces and illegal settlers have killed 80 Palestinians in Jenin, 42 in Nablus, 30 in Tubas, 22 in Hebron, 19 in Ramallah, 17 in Tulkarem, 9 in Bethlehem, 9 in Jerusalem, 6 in Qalqilia, 3 in Salfit, and 1 in Jericho, according to the Shireen Observatory.
In the Gaza Strip, the overall death toll since October 7, 2023 has increased to 69,187 including women and children, while at least 170,703 Palestinians have sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of Israel’s military onslaught.
