A new report on the planned X-Men movie has surfaced, shedding some light on who the roster of characters might be for the upcoming MCU movie.

What’s the latest X-Men movie update?

In a new Q&A session on Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez was asked about a ton about the planned mutant movie. One of those questions, specifically, focused on whether or not the movie might feature mutants like Cable, since Cyclops and the Summers family will be in the movie.

Perez noted that it was possible, but revealed that Marvel Studios might be focusing on the earlier eras of X-Men before diving into anything that happens later in the franchise’s history.

“They’re all fair game, but we’re starting out in the very early days with the X-Men roster they’ve got planned,” said Perez. He also went on to note that Cyclops and Jean Grey will be the “co-leaders” of the team, and that he’s heard names like Angel, Beast, Gambit, Rogue, and Nightcrawler as possible members of the group.

As of now, little is known about the upcoming X-Men movie. Jake Schreier, who directed 2025’s Thunderbolts*, will be behind the camera for the much anticipated movie. While members of the X-Men will appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, it’s unclear who will take over the mantle for the group in the future, as no official casting has been confirmed.

Marvel Studios is releasing Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026. After that comes the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, on December 17, 2027. Following Secret Wars, the MCU is then expected to begin its Mutant Saga, which will be a new series of stories revolving around the X-Men.
