A newly opened medical walk-in clinic in the south end of Sudbury will relieve pressure on the local emergency room, the medical director told The Sudbury Star this week.

“Based on current demand in the community, we anticipate seeing 40–60 patients per day as we scale up,” Dr. Dennis Reich said in an email. “Early indicators suggest even higher demand, especially among patients who have been unable to secure timely appointments elsewhere. As our provider team grows, we expect capacity to increase further.”
Touted in a media release as a “new, fully modernized walk-in medical clinic,” 4 Corners Clinic is “designed to improve access to timely care” and “offers same-day, no-appointment-needed medical services supported by a fully computerized workflow system that streamlines registration, documentation and patient follow-up.”

The clinic provides care for minor injuries and infections, respiratory symptoms, prescription renewals and general assessments and also offers travel-related medical visits, driver’s physicals, and a range of other assessments for both individuals and employers.
“A portion of ER visits in Sudbury are for non-urgent issues that can be safely managed in a properly equipped walk-in clinic,” Reich said. “By offering timely, same-day access, our goal is to divert non-emergency patients away from the ER and ensure they receive appropriate care in the right setting. Being only steps away from on-site imaging and having lab access nearby allows us to fully manage many cases that would otherwise end up in the emergency department.”

Initial hours for the clinic are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointments are required and on-site parking is available at the location.
“We are a completely new management team and a newly modernized clinic,” Reich added. “We’ve rebuilt the operation from the ground up, with a fully computerized system, streamlined patient flow and expanded access to local diagnostics. Our goal is to bring a fresh, modern, community-focused walk-in experience to the 4 Corners area.”
The location is ideal, he explained, because it sits at a central, highly accessible hub for the city.
“The building gives us direct access to imaging on the main floor and lab services immediately behind the clinic, which significantly improves patient flow and diagnostic turnaround times,” Reich said. “The location also serves a large population of students, downtown workers and residents who currently face long waits or lack access to a family physician. In short, it’s a place where need and convenience meet.”
