Scott Rogers’ side head to the English Riviera on the back of last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Chippenham Town at the Optima Stadium. Louis Britton, who spent time on loan at Torquay from Bristol City in 2020, headed home early on to grab his 18th goal of an excellent season thus far.
That victory for The Seagulls moved them back up to third in the National League South table, as they now take on a Torquay side in fifth place at the near-halfway stage of the season.
The Gulls were also in action last Saturday, but they were defeated by a goal to nil at AFC Totton.
Torquay included a few ex-Weston players in their side in Hampshire, as ex-loanees Dylan Morgan and Matt Jay started the game. Another starter was Sonny Blu-Lo Everton, who featured briefly for Weston in pre-season as a triallist.
It has all the makings of a Boxing Day cracker down in Devon, with a sell-out crowd expected to pour through the Plainmoor turnstiles. An incredible atmosphere and an equally exciting match between two promotion hopefuls is virtually guaranteed.
