The Michael Jackson Estate has released an AI-upscaled version of Will You Be There, adding another title to the ongoing series of upgraded short films now available on the official Michael Jackson YouTube channel.

Originally released in 1993, Will You Be There remains one of Michael Jackson’s most emotional and spiritually charged short films, combining concert footage with dramatic staging and a powerful gospel finale. Its raw sincerity and stripped-back presentation have long resonated with fans.

Visually, however, this latest upscale brings little noticeable improvement. Several sections of the video remain pixelated, and overall sharpness appears largely unchanged when compared to previous versions. That said, for once, fans have noted a small but meaningful relief: Michael Jackson’s face has not been excessively smoothed or “waxed” by the AI process, a recurring issue that plagued earlier upscales.

While the lack of heavy facial processing is welcome, the minimal enhancement raises further questions about consistency and quality control. If the technology can avoid over-processing in one release, why does it fail so dramatically in others?

The AI-upscaled version of Will You Be There is now available on Michael Jackson’s official YouTube channel.
