WATERLOO, Iowa — MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center has launched the Senior Life Solutions program to support older adults facing mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety.
This program is located on the 4th floor of MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center at 201 8th Avenue Southeast, Oelwein.
The initiative provides outpatient services tailored specifically for individuals 65 and older, offering group and individual therapy, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management. The team includes a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed therapists, and a registered nurse, all dedicated to the emotional well-being of older adults.
Cassie Cook, program coordinator, said, “The MercyOne Oelwein Senior Life Solutions program provides our community with an evidence- and outcomes-based treatment proven to significantly improve older adults’ mental health.”
The program caters to those experiencing changes in appetite, difficulty sleeping, prolonged sadness, feelings of worthlessness, or loss of interest in activities. Participants can attend group sessions up to three times a week, with individual therapy and teletherapy also available.
Senior Life Solutions is also offered at MercyOne New Hampton Medical Center and MercyOne Centerville Medical Center. Referrals can be made by healthcare professionals, family members, or friends.
