My Kitchen Rules’ controversial duo Mel and Jacinta may have been eliminated this week, but it appears Michael has found a new team to butt heads with. The self-proclaimed ‘Meat Master’, who is competing alongside his partner Rielli, sat opposite Gatecrashers Amy and Lara in Tuesday night’s episode, and it didn’t take long for the outspoken contestants to clash.
Michael grilled the Queensland divorcees about their intentions coming into the competition, with Lara arguing that they didn’t owe the other teams any information about their “strategy”. Michael then called the pair “cuckoo” and said it was impossible to have a conversation with them because they’re “on another planet”.
“Sorry, are you the captain of the table? I think the meat’s getting to your head,” Amy remarked, with Lara adding, “Let’s listen to the Meat Master!”.

Michael was quick to clap back and left the entire table shocked with his brutal remark, saying: “Well, let’s listen to the blonde bimbo!”
“I’m actually a redhead,” Lara responded.
Viewers were quick to call out Michael on social media following his harsh insult, describing him as “rude”, “immature”, and “inappropriate”.
“After that comment, he should be off the program,” one person wrote, while another added, “I bet Michael’s mum and dad are shattered and horrified at their son’s behaviour on this show!”.
“He needs to put a sock in it, he’s making a fool of himself,” a third remarked, followed by someone else who said, “Love that out Brissie baes are ready to cut the blokes down to size that give them grief”.
“It’s now beyond a joke, this show is no longer about cooking and food. It’s about arguing and running people down while the judges just sit back,” a different user replied.
‘A bit of fun’
Meanwhile, others praised Michael for being “honest” and said they were enjoying the drama on this year’s season of MKR.
“I’ve grown to like Michael, he’s a stirrer but harmless and a bit of fun,” one viewer commented, with someone else writing, “Michael keeps running his big mouth but he’s always bringing the drama and the entertainment around the table, I’m here for it”.

Who are Amy and Lara?
Queensland mums Amy and Lara are one of three new teams hitting the road for the second round of Instant Restaurants alongside Perth couple Danielle and Marko and South Australian competitive mates Mark and Tan.
Amy is a self-taught, occasional private chef who describes herself as “a stay-at-home mum navigating a divorce”, while Lara is a tech consultant with a wicked sense of humour and a passion for food.

“I’ve loved cooking since I was little and wanted to be a baker by the time I was two,” Amy said. “I grew up on a farm, where I loved cooking with homegrown food and catching fresh food.”
“My love of eating and watching my family entertain inspired me,” Lara shared. “Dad was the freestyle ‘a bit of this, a bit of that’ type of cook, while Mum was recipe faithful. I’m the hybrid child of both.”
