In November, the council announced residents would be able to include more items in their home-collected rubbish.
Now, plastic bags and wrapping recycling, such as confectionery wrappers, foil-lined packaging and bubble wrap can be included in the pink sacks.

A Maldon Council spokesperson said: “The expansion of plastic bags and wrapping recycling is part of our ongoing commitment to improve recycling rates even further and support Essex Waste Partnership’s ambition to reach 65 per cent recycling by 2035.”
Items such as pet food and food pouches, balloons, blister packs, crisp tubes, foam or polystyrene and plastic straws and cutlery cannot be accepted, the council clarified.
The council said the service was rolled out in phases from November 2025 after trials, with homes notified by a sticker on their black wheeled bin, or a letter for properties without one.
Maldon was already among the top-performing councils for household recycling, with a recycling and composting rate of about 57.8 per cent compared with a national average of 44 per cent.
