Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve spotted a plot hole in the epic Corriedale episode, which aired on Monday.
Fans of the soap crossover – in which Coronation Street and Emmerdale combined for an epic hour of television – hailed the show as ‘one of the best things ever’. However, after the episode in which John Sugden’s killer confesses, some Emmerdale viewers have questions.
In the groundbreaking ITV offering, John was bumped off and seen dead in the woods in the final moments. The final shot saw his half-sister Victoria standing over him, looking distraught before admitting to the crime to brother Robert and his partner, Aaron Dingle.

The couple reassured Victoria that as one else knew what had happened, she would be able to get away with it. However, the camera then panned to Joe Tate lurking in the woods, who had filmed the whole thing.
Eagle-eyed Emmerdale fans were quick to point out that it would have been impossible for Joe to have been in the woods considering he had had almost been killed by an earlier explosion and was taken to hospital with concussion.
The video on Joe’s phone showed Victoria wiping her prints off the syringe she used to kill John before placing it in his hand – making it look like a suicide.
However, Joe was last seen at the end of Monday’s episode in hospital bed with concussion, leaving fans confused by Tuesday’s episode’s events.

One viewer took to X asking: “Wasn’t Joe taken to hospital? But here he is recording people being murdered after being blown of his feet from an explosion…”
A second viewer added: “How’s Joe Tate filming Victoria? Thought he was injured when the minibus exploded and was taken to hospital?”
Meanwhile, a third surmised: “So, where was Joe in the time from him waking up to the hospital scene? My theory is that he saw Robert and Cain run into the woods after Aaron putting him in the ambulance. He follows, assuming he would catch Robert killing John and blackmail him about it.”
Emmerdale has since disclosed that Victoria will be found out – eventually. Producer Laura Shaw said: “The truth about John’s death will be revealed, as Victoria’s clever deception, making John’s death look like suicide, will unravel.
“Evil Joe Tate knows the truth and has damning video evidence which he plans to use to get what he wants from the Sugdens, potentially taking control of Butler’s Farm.
“Robert is also in the thick of it, trying to save Victoria by planting evidence.”
