Later this month, Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC) will debut the world premiere of “Ten Brave Seconds”. The musical, with music and lyrics by Will Van Dyke and book and lyrics by Jeff Talbott, tells the story of a teenage boy named Mike, who is seeking change and must find the courage to join his community. Set over the course of one day, the show aims to open hearts and spark conversations, and features a contemporary pop score.

Van Dyke and Talbott express their excitement about sharing their nearly seven-year project, “We are very committed to making theatre that opens channels to both feeling and talking, and getting to start that conversation in a production created for the Utah audience is thrilling.”

University of Utah student interns Harrison Timm, Sydney Rudel, and Ella Mei Williamson join the production’s “Teen” ensemble, as well as Ariana Bagley and Kaden Conrad, who will serve as swings. Backstage, Hanna Duersch is Assistant Stage Manager, and Avneet Kaur Sandhu and Jordan Soper are part of the crew.

Leading the cast is PTC newcomer Carson Stewart as Mike, joined by an impressive cast, including Tony Award Nominee John Cariani as Mr. G., Will Blum as Carl, Luke Kolbe Mannikus as Tim, Jessica Money as Gabby, and Heidi Farber as Becky.
