Thanks to Jtprime17 over at TFW2005, we’ve got a fresh batch of codenames making the rounds tied to upcoming Transformers Collaborative projects, and I have to admit, this is the kind of breadcrumb trail that always gets my collector brain firing on all cylinders, because while codenames like “kick,” “race,” “green,” “song (SDCC exclusive),” “Cemetry,” and “monster jam 1” don’t tell us much on the surface, they almost never show up without something interesting lurking behind them, especially when collaborations are involved and the possibilities span everything from vehicles to pop culture crossovers to full-on nostalgia plays. What really has me pausing here, and honestly tempering expectations a bit, is how naturally these kinds of leaks immediately pull us back to long-rumored projects like the GI Joe Transformers Optimus Prime MOBAT or even the much bigger, more ambitious Titan Class GI Joe Transformers crossover that’s been whispered about for what feels like forever, because those ideas still live rent free in a lot of collectors’ heads, myself included, even as time keeps marching on with no official confirmation. At the same time, these codenames could just as easily point in totally different directions, whether that’s licensed partners, event exclusives like the SDCC-tagged “song,” or something more left field that none of us are even guessing yet, and that’s always part of the fun and frustration of following this stuff so closely. As much as I’d love to say one of these is absolutely tied to those GI Joe crossover dreams, the honest read right now is that those projects may very well be stalled or quietly shelved, which makes these new codenames feel like both a spark of excitement and a reminder to keep expectations in check until something concrete finally lands.
