Kamila Rodrigues Cardoso, aged 21, was a Brazilian model and beauty queen. Still, she left her career in modeling and beauty contests to become a nun, and her religious name is now Sister Eva.
In a 2025 video that has gotten a lot of views, Kamila smiles in her habit as she shares that she is involved in a farming community by delivering alternative milk not made with casein.
Sister Eva is from a Syriac Orthodox Church in Brazil. This church permits makeup and painted nails. This is not a usual tradition for Catholic nuns. Some people have questioned her authenticity for this reason.
The video on X (Twitter) has nearly five million views. There are many conversations about Kamila quitting modeling to follow her faith.
One man stated, “That smile alone tells me that she’s in a cult and she’s having too much fun.” A man said, “She’s part of the Congregation of Sancta Dei Genitrix, andit’ss not associated with the Roman Catholic Church. It’s headed by an Orthodox Priest named José Ribamar R. Dias. She needs psychological and spiritual assistance.”
Then there’s this comment: “Isn’t she part of a creepy schismatic cult? Not a real nun anyway.” Then there’s this: “She’s a nun, butshe’ss on that phone?”
One woman wrote, “Wow, leaving the world behind to follow Jesus is not easy; she is strong indeed!” A second woman continued, “I pity those who think she is as innocent as she looks in that video; it looks so staged.” One user wrote, “Congrats! There’s more to life than being used.”
