The White Lotus creator, Mike White, and HBO have chosen the French luxury hotel that will serve as the main setting for season 4 of the hit show.

According to Variety, Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez will be the deadly resort that hosts the new cast of The White Lotus season 4. The real-world hotel’s glamorous appearance and its appealing location make it the perfect fit for the series’ usually rich and privileged characters to visit as things slowly begin to unravel.

It was confirmed in September 2025 that The White Lotus would move to France for its fourth season. Since then, several viewers have guessed that the exact location would be the French Riviera. The speculation was likely caused by sources claiming that they witnessed White visiting several hotels in that area, such as Nice’s Hotel Negresco, last summer.

The first three seasons featured resorts operated by the Four Seasons under a marketing partnership with HBO. However, that agreement has expired and won’t be enforced for the upcoming installment, giving the production team more flexibility when it comes to choosing its resorts.

Previous seasons of The White Lotus have used multiple hotels in a single season. For example, season 3 of the show took place at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui but incorporated three additional properties that weren’t owned by the massive hotel chain. So, the Château de la Messardière could be one of several filming locations. Viewers have speculated that since the French Riviera does have a Four Seasons hotel, the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, it could be possible that the show will use that location despite no longer having an agreement with the chain.

The Château de la Messardière is a 19th-century hilltop property offering breathtaking views of the Bay of Saint-Tropez. Although the hotel is not on a beach, it does provide its guests with access to a private beach club that is very close by. Rooms at the high-end resort start at around $3,000 per night and can go up to $8,000 or more. It also features a spa, multiple restaurants, and even a children’s club.
