Technical thrash metal pioneers Coroner have returned in full force with their brand-new single “Symmetry”, accompanied by a music video directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz. This one’s a lot more straightforward than their first single “Renewal”, but hey – what good is an album if it’s all the same shit?

The track previews the band’s long-anticipated new studio album, Dissonance Theory, due out October 17, 2025 via Century Media Records. Marking their first full-length release in over three decades, the record is available now for pre-order here.

Coroner guitarist, songwriter, and producer Tommy Vetterli explained the vision behind the new single: “This track is about vanity, ego, and how self-obsession can be destructive. That idea shaped the way we played it too. ‘Symmetry’ gave us room to explore, and with the rhythmic dimension Diego [Rapacchietti – Drums] brings, it pushed us further than we’ve gone before.”

Recorded at Vetterli’s New Sound Studios in Switzerland and expertly mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden (Opeth, Kreator, Amon Amarth), Dissonance Theory promises ten brand-new tracks of razor-sharp precision and progressive thrash mastery from Coroner, clocking in at 47 minutes. Honestly given these two singles, I’m glad these guys are back.
