LAIKA

Beloved “ParaNorman” and “Coraline” animation studio LAIKA has revealed a new featurette for their next film “Wildwood”.

The company’s sixth feature is helmed by Travis Knight (“Kubo and the Two Strings”) from a script by Chris Butler (“ParaNorman,” “Missing Link”), based on the novel by Colin Meloy.

The Portland-set story follows Prue McKeel who, along with her best friend Curtis, enters a hidden and enchanted forest cultivated by original settlers known as the
impassable wilderness.

The woods want to keep people away from whatever secrets are hiding inside, including her baby brother Mac who has been taken by a murder of crows and a mysterious woman named Alexandra into the forest’s depths.

The featurette puts the focus on a key location in the film – the Pittock Mansion, one of Portland’s most iconic landmarks reimagined into a symbol of mystery, power, and magic.

Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amanda Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits and Richard E. Grant lend their voices to the project.

“Wildwood” is set for release sometime in 2026.
