At the end of her skate, Petrokina instantly knew she had done enough for gold, placing her hands on her head and letting out a beaming smile at the Utilita Arena.

“They said in Estonia that it is unreal to win two in a row so I wanted to show that it is real,” said Petrokina, who last year became the first Estonian to win a European title.

“The first time I was shocked, but this time I came here to win and show one more time that I could do this.

“Now this second title for me will give me more power for the Olympics.”
