Japan’s Murase Kokomo claimed victory in the women’s snowboard slopestyle at the FIS Snowboard World Cup in Laax, backing up a strong opening run with a winning score of 77.55 to take the top step of the podium on Sunday, 18 January.
The Beijing 2022 Olympic bronze medallist in women’s snowboard big air now turns her focus to the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, where she will be aiming to improve on her previous podium finish. Murase, the first woman to land a backside triple cork 1620, has now reached her second World Cup podium of the 2026 season and her first slopestyle victory since Cardrona 2024, with both results coming in slopestyle as she finds key form in the Olympic year.
“Unbelievable, today was super windy, but I’m so happy with my run,” she told an FIS reporter.
Lily Dhawornvej of the United States finished second with 71.18, while two-time Olympic champion Anna Gasser of Austria completed the podium in third after braving the windy conditions to deliver her best score of 69.70 on the second run.
