The federal cabinet has formed a committee headed by the finance minister to examine whether the Rs. 10 banknote should be discontinued.

According to sources, the cabinet has directed the committee to give recommendations on whether the Rs. 10 banknote should be withdrawn or retained.

The committee has also been tasked with submitting recommendations after considering the production cost of the Rs. 10 banknote. In addition, the committee will give its recommendations on whether issuing a Rs. 10 coin would be more beneficial compared to the Rs. 10 banknote.

After the committee finalizes its recommendations, it will submit its report to the federal cabinet. The cabinet will then make a final decision in light of the committee’s findings.
