The guest list is set for a “Red, White & Royal Wedding.”
Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Ellie Bamber and Clifton Collins Jr. are among the returning cast for the sequel to Amazon MGM Studios’ hit rom-com “Red, White & Royal Blue,” which is now in production.
Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez star as Prince Henry, third in line to the British throne, and Alex Claremont-Diaz (Zakhar Perez), the First Son of the United States, respectively, whose unexpected romance is at the heart of the film series. In “Red White & Royal Blue,” their relationship evolves from a heated rivalry to an even hotter love story — though it’s all complicated by the international spotlight.
Thurman plays U.S. President Ellen Claremont, while Collins is her husband, Congressman Oscar Diaz. Shahi is Zahra Bankston, the Claremonts’ deputy chief of staff. Hilson plays Nora Halleran, Alex’s best friend and the granddaughter of the vice president. Bamber plays Henry’s sister Princess Beatrice, whose wedding is the one mentioned in the film’s title.
Galitzine and Zakhar Perez took to social media to announce the production start and to clarify that Alex and Henry’s wedding was far in the future.
Stephen Fry (Henry’s grandfather, King James III), Thomas Flynn (Henry’s elder brother, Prince Philip), Aneesh Sheth (Amy, a secret service agent) and Malcolm Atobrah (Henry’s best friend Percy) also reprise their roles from the first film, with Henry Ashton (“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder”) and Alex Høgh Andersen (“Vikings,” “The Room Next Door”) joining the cast.
Jamie Babbit (“But I’m a Cheerleader,” “Only Murders in the Building”) is directing the sequel from a script by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López and the book series’ author Casey McQuiston. Details of the film’s plot are being kept under wraps.
Berlanti Schechter Films’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter also return to produce the sequel, joined by the banner’s Michael McGrath, as well as López and Sullivan Street Productions’ Jennifer Salke. McQuiston and Michael Constable will executive produce.
