Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Saba Asghar Ali on Friday instructed all medical stores in the district to stop selling sleep and insomnia medicines without a doctor’s prescription.
An official from the DC office said strict action would be taken against outlets found violating the order. The official noted that while such medicines are meant to be sold only on prescription, many stores had been dispensing them without proper oversight.
According to the new directive, pharmacies can now provide sleep-related drugs only if buyers present a valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner. The DC stated the step is aimed at preventing misuse and ensuring public safety.
