On Monday 26 January, the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Torch Relay will complete its 50th stage, crossing the Belluno area and climbing the valleys that lead to the Dolomites. It will be the day when, exactly seventy years after the opening of the VII Olympic Winter Games, the Flame will arrive in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The programme of the day

The Flame will leave Ponte nelle Alpi at 10.15 a.m. and head towards Vajont, a place linked to the tragedy of 9 October 1963, when a landslide from Mount Toc into the artificial basin caused a wave that devastated Longarone and the other towns on the valley floor, causing more than 1,900 casualties.

At 11.20 a.m., the torch relay will then reach Longarone, before continuing at 12.10 p.m. towards Pieve di Cadore and Tai di Cadore. In the afternoon, at 2.15 p.m., the Flame will reach Valle di Cadore, before heading towards San Vito di Cadore, with passage scheduled for 3.15 p.m.

The stage will end in the evening in Cortina d’Ampezzo, with arrival scheduled for 7.30 pm. Considered one of the main gateways to the Dolomites, the city lies at the foot of some of the most famous massifs of this mountain range, recognised as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site since 2009 for its exceptional landscape and geological value. At Largo delle Poste, after a stretch that will involve 34 torchbearers – 15 in the final segment – Cortina will welcome the brazier in a moment of celebration open to the whole community.

During the day, the Flame will also touch several places of particular scenic interest, including Lake Santa Croce, one of the main natural basins of the Veneto region, known for its clear waters and the alpine environment that surrounds it.
