Kate Middleton recently paid a solo visit to a children’s trauma therapy center run by the U.K. charity Family Action. While there, the princess reportedly said that her eldest son Prince George “keeps her playful.”Middleton also turned heads during the visit thanks to a surprise hairstyle change and outfit overhaul.
Kate Middleton‘s role as the patron of Family Action is apparently encouraging the princess to open up about how her own kids keep her young. The charity, which helps children and their families recover from trauma, recently hosted Middleton for a day of art, music, and movement therapy.
“Something that’s lost through traumatic experiences is that sense of playfulness and joy which just comes back when you’re making music or you’re drawing together,” Senior therapist Stuart Murray-Borbjerg explained, per Hello. “[It’s] something the Princess said too–that kind of gets lost as adults, but [Prince] George keeps her playful.”

Murray-Borbjerg also added that Middleton made mention of her kids’s interest in music, noting, “I think she said one [of her children] plays the guitar and one plays the drums.”

The drum player in the Wales family is, of course, Prince Louis. “My youngest is learning the drums,” Prince William shared back in 2024. “That’s why I spend my entire life with my fingers in my ears.”Â

Aside from her comments about her children, Middleton also turned heads thanks to a surprise hairstyle change and outfit overhaul. For the first half of her day, the future queen wore a herringbone Holland Cooper jacket with brown wide-leg trousers by Jigsaw. Her hair was styled in her signature long, loose curls.

Upon arriving at the mental health charity Mind Over Mountains, however, the princess sported a side braid and a much more casual outfit consisting of an olive green Dubarry of Ireland utility jacket and brown skinny jeans. Per Marie Claire, she swapped her Emmy London pumps for a pair of Berghaus hiking boots for the excursion.
