Senior IDF officials warned of an expected expansion of smuggling into the Strip, while police are preparing indictments and consolidating investigation materials on the goods smuggling network. More than 15 Israelis are suspects in the case, including a relative of Shin Bet chief David Zini, who himself is not a suspect in the case. The IDF claimed that the battalion’s transfer is not related to the scandal.
