Tottenham Hotspur head into the weekend brimming with confidence after their midweek success in Europe, and they’ll be aiming to round off a perfect seven days with a third straight victory in all competitions when they visit Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas Frank’s men marked their return to the Champions League, their first appearance since the 2022-23 campaign, when AC Milan ended their journey in the last 16, with a hard-fought 1-0 win at home, courtesy of an early own goal from Luiz Junior. But now attention swings back to Premier League matters, where another stern test awaits.

Brighton, under Fabian Hurzeler, have been something of a mixed bag in recent weeks. They followed up a shock 2-1 victory over Manchester City with a disappointing defeat by the same scoreline against Bournemouth. That came on the heels of a thumping 6-0 demolition of Oxford United in the League Cup, which itself followed a 2-0 loss at Everton and a stoppage-time equalizer against Fulham on the opening weekend.

The Seagulls have long been a tough nut to crack at the Amex, and Spurs know the challenge all too well. Brighton did the double over them last season, including a 4-1 hammering in North London on the final day and a 3-2 thriller on the south coast earlier in the campaign.

This time around, Tottenham arrive with momentum on their side, but Brighton’s ability to spring surprises means they’ll have to be at their sharpest to avoid history repeating itself.

Brighton’s trip to Bournemouth proved costly beyond the scoreline, as both Jack Hinshelwood (ankle) and Maxim De Cuyper (knee) limped off before halftime. Hinshelwood now joins long-term absentees Adam Webster and Solly March (both knee) on the sidelines, while De Cuyper remains doubtful for Saturday. On the brighter side, Mats Wieffer (knee) and Diego Gomez (illness) have been passed fit and are back in contention.

Should De Cuyper fail to recover in time, Ferdi Kadioglu is expected to slot in at left-back, lining up alongside Lewis Dunk, Jan Paul van Hecke, and Joel Veltman. In midfield, either Carlos Baleba or Yasin Ayari could be drafted in to cover Hinshelwood’s absence. Further forward, Yankuba Minteh is tipped to continue in attack alongside Kaoru Mitoma, Georginio Rutter, and Danny Welbeck.

Striker Dominic Solanke is edging closer to a return from his ankle problem, but this weekend’s clash comes too early. He remains sidelined along with Yves Bissouma (knock), Kota Takai (foot), and the trio of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Radu Dragusin (all knee).

Boss Thomas Frank may freshen up his XI, with Destiny Udogie now fit and likely to reclaim the left-back role from Djed Spence, while Joao Palhinha will be pushing for a recall in midfield at the expense of Rodrigo Bentancur.

Up front, Richarlison, Mathys Tel, and Randal Kolo Muani are vying for the No. 9 spot, though the Brazilian seems the frontrunner. He could be supported by Xavi Simons and new recruit Mohammed Kudus, though Brennan Johnson will also be hoping for a start on the wing.
