Rafi Ben Shtrit, father of Staff Sgt. Elroy Ben Shtrit, who fell in battle at the Nahal Oz outpost on October 7, said at a protest in Habima Square that “the military failure cries out to the heavens and military commanders bow their heads, but the political echelon is busy denying and evading their responsibility. They have no shame.” Ben Shtrit added that “I stand here because of my youngest son Elroy, who fell heroically. He fought to protect his comrades and the people of Israel. The guilty ones are the Hamas terrorists, all of them sentenced to death, but the massacre was made possible because of a profound failure and major systemic collapse of the state. The political echelon that contained Hamas and fed the monster continues to incite and trample anyone who stands in its way. We must have a state commission of inquiry.”
