Marvel and DC Comics’ latest crossover just introduced a whole new kind of interstellar threat who is absolutely the best at what he does.
As seen in the pages of Deadpool/Batman #1, specifically its final story, “Enter: Logo” (by Ryan North, Ryan Stegman, Frank Martin, and VC’s Joe Caramagna), the Amalgam Universe has a whole new problem, and his name is Logo. To top things off, fans who might have missed their chance to meet Logo the first time around will get the opportunity to see him grace his very first comic book cover (as illustrated by Ryan Stegman) when the second printing of Deadpool/Batman #1 arrives in comic book stores everywhere on October 29. Readers can check out the upcoming second printing cover for themselves down below.

Apart from its main story by writer Zeb Wells and artist Greg Capullo, Deadpool/Batman #1 includes a half-dozen stories featuring crossovers between other iconic Marvel and DC Comics characters. As noted by the official solicit synopsis for the issue from Marvel and DC Comics, “Experience other exciting Marvel and DC team-ups from a lineup of all-star talent, including Daredevil and Green Arrow by Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert, Captain America and Wonder Woman by Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson, Jeff the Land Shark and Krypto by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru, Rocket Raccoon and Green Lantern by Al Ewing and Dike Ruan, and Old Man Logan and Batman from The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller! Plus—meet LOGO, an anti-hero that merges the two biggest badasses in comic books, in an introductory tale by Ryan North and Ryan Stegman!”
The Amalgam Universe was introduced in 1996 across twelve one-shot titles that all featured characters born from combinations of Marvel and DC Comics icons. Among these were the likes of Doctor Strangefate (Doctor Strange/Doctor Fate), Super Soldier (Captain America/Superman), and the fan-favorite Spider-Boy (Spider-Man/Superboy), the latter of whom is about to get a reprint of his own self-titled comic. One year later, the Amalgam Universe returned with a new run of twelve issues that expanded upon its world with the introductions of characters like Lobo the Duck and the superpowered antiheroes of Generation Hex.
The release of Deadpool/Batman #1 marks the first half of a new crossover initiative between Marvel and DC Comics. The issue will be followed by the release of Batman/Deadpool #1, which will give readers yet another chance to see their favorite comic book universes cross paths for another set of astonishing stories. DC Comics CCO and president Jim Lee discussed the project ahead of its release, noting that these kind of major crossovers happen “Kind of once every generation of readers.” Lee explained, “The timing has to be right in that you don’t want to do these too often. You want them to feel special… So you want the story, creatively, to warrant the hype of it all.”
Deadpool/Batman #1 goes on sale September 17 from Marvel and DC Comics. The second printing arrives in comic book stores everywhere on October 29.
