Elvis Presley Called Priscilla While She Was With Robert Kardashian

Priscilla Presley dated Robert Kardashian following her 1973 divorce from Elvis.In her new memoir, the mom of two wrote of a time when her ex-husband called her at 2 a.m. while she was in bed with her new beau.Elvis would have “gone ballistic,” Priscilla wrote, if he had known that Kardashian was in her bedroom.

Though Elvis and Priscilla Presley called it quits in 1973, that didn’t stop the legendary musician from calling his ex-wife in the middle of the night—even when she was with other men. In her new memoir, Softly, As I Leave You: Life after Elvis, the mom of two recounted an example of her ex’s “unfortunate habit” involving the one and only Robert Kardashian, according to an excerpt shared with People. The unlikely duo dated from 1975 to 1976.

It all started when the phone rang one night at 2 a.m. Priscilla “leapt out of bed” so as not to wake her new beau. “I tiptoed down the hall to the guest bedroom and shut the door to listen to the familiar voice,” she wrote.

Despite the late hour, Priscilla noted that it likely hadn’t “crossed his mind” that she might be asleep. “It had certainly never occurred to him that I might be with another man,” she continued. “Despite our divorce, he still couldn’t wrap his head around my being with someone else. He’d have gone ballistic, maybe literally, if he’d known Robert was in my bedroom.”

Priscilla went on, “Elvis always carried a loaded gun, sometimes more than one.”

Softly, As I Leave You: Life after Elvis is out on Tuesday, September 23 via Grand Central Publishing. The memoir recounts the real story of Priscilla’s life at Graceland and how she found herself following the couple’s headline-making divorce.

This is not the first time that Priscilla has written about her relationship with her ex-husband, of course. In 1985, she published Elvis and Me, which was later adapted into the 2023 film Priscilla. The author also penned Elvis by the Presleys in 2020 in collaboration with her daughter Lisa Marie and “other family members.”
