Update: Samsung’s September 2025 security update is now rolling out to Galaxy S22 series in India as well (h/t Mohammed Khatri!).
Samsung has begun rolling out the September 2025 security patch to the Galaxy S22 series. As always, the update improves the security system to protect your device from the latest threats. The company is currently rolling out the update in Europe, but rest assured, it will expand to more global markets in the coming weeks.
Galaxy S22 series picks up Samsung’s September security update
Launched in 2022, Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series is eligible for five years of security updates. The Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra are now picking up the September 2025 security update. The latest patch comes with firmware version S901BXXSIFYI3 for the S22, S906BXXSIFYI3 for the S22+, and S908BXXSIFYI3 for the S22 Ultra.
The release notes mention that once you update to the new build, you won’t be able to downgrade to the old software. This is because of changes in the security policy that ensure your device stays protected against vulnerabilities. With this month’s security update, Samsung addresses over 80 vulnerabilities, including two critical ones. For example, it fixes improper access control issues in One UI Home and blocks access to sensitive information in ContactProvider.
If you want to ensure your Galaxy S22 remains protected against the newest threats, you should install the September 2025 update as soon as possible. This will not only improve the security of your device but also enhance overall system stability and reliability. To update your device, go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Make sure your device has a sufficient battery charge to avoid interruptions during the installation process.
Meanwhile, Samsung is gearing up to roll out the Android 16-based One UI 8 for its 2022 flagship series. According to the One UI 8 upgrade plan for Brazil, the new software will hit the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra on October 6. We will let you know when the Korean firm starts offering the fresh Galaxy experience.
