Ramsay Health Care tried to go offshore and failed. If the current set of shareholders had their way again, they’d mark all those M&A files “never again” and ban executives’ flights out of the country.

After 20 years of buying, building and battling, Ramsay’s offshore dreams are over. The company has finally admitted there are few advantages in owning hospitals in both Australia and France (or Australia and anywhere else, really) and that it just can’t replicate the returns it makes at home.
