Brendoncare’s Otterbourne Hill received a ‘good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for both its care home and home care services.

The report said care was personalised and effective at the nursing home, which supports adults of all ages who may be living with dementia, a physical disability or sensory needs.

Inspectors highlighted the staff’s kindness, empathy, and respect, as well as a strong focus on upholding dignity and independence.

Charlotte Chiutare, general manager at Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill, said: “I’m so proud of all the team.

“The reports for both services demonstrate and echo the hard work, dedication and care that goes in to everything they do on a daily basis, which makes such a difference to so many people’s lives.

“I am extremely grateful to our residents and relatives for their continued support and trust in us.”

In the report, staff were praised for empowering residents to make choices about their daily lives and for using accessible communication tools like pictures and easy-read formats.

Inspectors said: “People reported feeling safe and reassured, knowing staff responded promptly to urgent needs such as pain management, falls, or distress.

“Professionals observed interventions were timely and effective, contributing to positive outcomes and improved quality of life.

“Feedback from people and families was regularly sought and acted upon, ensuring services evolved in line with individual preferences.”

Risk management was described as “comprehensive”, with thorough assessments for conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and diabetes.

Medication and infection control practices were also found to be safe and consistent by inspectors.

The report also highlighted partnerships with education providers, nurseries, and children’s services as strengths, supporting the home’s intergenerational projects and promoting community engagement.

Penny Lamb, Brendoncare’s director of operations, said: “These ‘Good’ ratings really reinforce Brendoncare’s long-standing reputation for excellence and its ongoing commitment to delivering the very best standards of care for older people across all its services.”

Families and residents consistently reported that they felt safe, valued, and respected.
